Hello! I’m Laura, I’m a Graphic Designer based in Edinburgh.
I work across commercial design for Live Comedy and Theatre, and Graphic Props for Film & TV.
Who? What? Why?
I went to Uni with what I thought were very clearly defined expectations of the role of a Graphic Designer. It meant commercial briefs, marketing a business. The philanthropic limitations of designers extended to promoting non-profit and third sector business. Sure, we could try and get people to reduce, re-use, and recycle, have a role in a circular economy, but really designers should stay in their lane, right?
During COVID, I took a break from Uni and gained some work experience on feature film. Suddenly, I realised that I could still put the practical commercial skills that I’d been honing for the past 12 years to use in a creative environment based on collaboration and storytelling.
