Personal Project

Inspired by Edinburgh’s rich history of printmaking, this series of graphical props tell the stories of the residents of Newington and the surrounding areas in the 1890s. Influenced by real historical stories taken from news clippings from this period, these props explore the past of lived-in tenements still occupied to this day.

A compositor’s life extinguished by ingesting opium poison. A spendthrift greengrocer turned con-man who ran a friendly society for working class members, only to spend the society’s funds.
